Privacy Policy
Last updated : 2026-09-05
Fauna IQ Innovations Inc. ("Fauna IQ", "we") operates faunaiq.ca and the Trapline IQ application. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what your rights are. It is written to comply with Quebec's Law 25 (Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information).
Information we collect
We collect only what the application needs to work and to produce the official documents you ask it for.
- Account: email address and password (stored in hashed form).
- Trapper profile: name, certificate number, contact details, operating zones (UGAFs), administrative region and, where applicable, the identifiers of your registered trapline.
- Field data: GPS positions of your traps, visits, captures, routes, notes and any photographs you record.
- Technical information: error logs and diagnostic data used to fix failures.
How we use it
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
- To run the application, including offline, and to synchronise your data across your devices.
- To pre-fill the official documents you generate (season logbook, declarations, permission forms).
- To contact you about your account or a technical problem.
Wildlife research consent
The application offers to share data for research purposes. This consent is optional, off by default, and can be withdrawn at any time in settings.
When enabled, only de-identified data is shared: capture counts by species, trapping activity by administrative region, and seasonal trends. Never shared: your exact GPS coordinates, the location or name of your traps, your name, certificate number, email address, or any other information that could identify you.
Hosting and data residency
Your personal information is hosted in Canada, in the Canadian region of our cloud infrastructure provider. A copy of your data remains on your device so that the application works without a network connection.
Disclosure to third parties
We use suppliers who process data on our behalf, only as far as necessary to deliver the service: cloud hosting, transactional email delivery, a weather data service, and a crash-reporting tool. These suppliers are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
We disclose your information to a government authority only where the law requires it. Official documents generated by the application are not transmitted to anyone automatically: you produce them, you keep them, and you send them.
Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information is erased within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.
Your rights
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at the address below. We respond within 30 days.
- Access the information we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected.
- Request deletion of your account and your information.
- Receive your data in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability).
- Withdraw a consent you previously gave.
Person responsible for the protection of personal information
As required by Law 25, the person responsible for the protection of personal information at Fauna IQ Innovations Inc. is Stéphane Geissel, President. Any question or complaint about this policy may be sent to him by email. You may also file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Changes
If we change this policy, the new version will be published on this page with a revised update date. Significant changes will be signalled to you in the application.
